In Hungary adoption of procedures for increasing data privacy awareness is very limited, the Hungarian businesses, in many cases, have made only minimal efforts to comply with local and EU rules concerning data privacy.
All organization which process personal data need to comply with the effective Hungarian legal regulations, meaning that personal data can only be processed if the data processing complies with the Act No. 112 of 2011 on Informational Self-Determination and Freedom of Information (“Privacy Act“), and also the EU implemented the new data protection regulation: Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (“GDPR”) which is directly applicable in Hungary.
